David is an IP expert who is happy to talk to anyone with an invention or idea. He is a Chartered and European Patent Attorney and Registered Trade Mark Agent of over forty years’ experience. He has an honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Imperial College, London, and has worked both for the BBC in technical and production roles and for ICI in a number of commercial roles.
David trained in the patents profession with a long-established London firm, went on to become a partner in a firm in Yorkshire, and eventually to represent what is now one of the world’s largest electronics businesses. He also ran for a time a patent department of one of the largest firms of lawyers in the UK.
David has served as President of the international Licensing Executives Society in Britain and Ireland. He has given many papers and presentations on IP and licensing, and has been a visiting lecturer on MBA courses at the University of Leeds.
Since 1995, he has run his own independent practice that includes IP consultancy, together with preparing, filing, prosecuting and maintaining patents, designs and trade marks in all countries. His firm is based in Alderney and he visits Guernsey regularly.
David has many outside interests, including music and drama, and has been involved in numerous community projects.
