Carl Symes

Carl worked for over 35 years in the hotel and catering industry. After a degree in Engineering at Bath University of Technology, he pursued his career in Hotels & Catering, working for De Vere Hotels, Grand Metropolitan as Director & General manager of a large outside catering company, Whitbread and then returned to Grand Metropolitan as Operations Director for a company rolling out new restaurant chains). After moving to Guernsey, Carl became a partner in a company owning & operating small hotels & restaurants. He acted as a consultant to Healthspan in Guernsey, finishing the development, opening and operating two new hotels. Now semi-retired, he is active as a council member of the Chamber of Commerce, a keen photographer and a Director of the Guernsey Photography Festival.
