IT and Technology

Most of us these days have smart phones in our pockets that are more powerful than the technology that got the first man on to the surface of the moon. But how many of us fully use that technology and make the most of the opportunities that are now in front of us.

The most obvious developments in recent years are in the field of social media and everyone should have a presence on that.  A simple facebook page is easy to construct and will keep you in close touch with your customers and potential customers. It takes your business to your customers rather than them having to come to you.

Youtube is becoming a hugely popular way to interact with your customers and potential customers. Simple instruction videos to demonstrate your product or service. testimonials about your business and funnies linked to your business can all make a big impression and are not hugely expensive to create.

If you work as a team you should be using Dropbox or Google Drive to share files and work documents. Photo sites like Flickr and Picasa can store your image galleries and be linked to your website. CRM tools like salesforce and the system we use at Icomplete can track clients and keep sales records and Google app's can provide you with calendars and other useful applications.

Your smart phone should be able to bring you up to date with all these different elements as well as your accounts and banking (with the right app's) enabling you to take all of this information wherever you go.

New systems have been invented in many businesses. not many window cleaners carry a ladder and bucket any more, so keep an eye on what your competitors are doing and look at what people in your fierld are doing in other countries. By doing this you can keep yourself up to date with the latest technology and ensure you keep pace with or ahead of your competitors.
