Small Business Focus Group Meeting on the Proposed Discrimination Legislation

Share

The Committee for Employment & Social Security has published draft proposals for new discrimination legislation.

The consultation is open until Monday 30 September 2019. The proposed legislation will prohibit discrimination in a range of fields including employment and in the provision of goods, services, education and accommodation so this is of relevance to Guernsey’s business community.

We recognise that this may be daunting, particularly for small businesses that are unlikely to have dedicated HR or legal functions.  With this in mind, the Committee is planning to hold (subject to sufficient interest) a focus group meeting specifically aimed at small business owners/representatives on Wednesday 18 September from 7pm to 9pm to outline what the proposals mean for employers and goods or service providers and to better understand any concerns or challenges that small businesses may have.  If you would like to attend please call 01481 732546 or email [email protected]

Further information about the Committee’s draft proposals and how to get involved in the consultation is available at www.gov.gg/discriminationconsultation

Full details of the proposals can be found here and an FAQ document can be found here.
